"Why can't I?"
I have a friend who makes delicious meals, avoids animal products and leaves a smaller carbon footprint. No meat. Only vegetables. I was curious at first and then asked myself if I could do it. As it turned out, I could and so, I did.
It was surprisingly an easy start. I watched a lot of plant-based cooking tutorials online. There are quite a lot that are available for free and it convinced me enough to start my plant-based diet. The best part? Hong Kong wet markets provide a great selection of vegetables and fruits for those that want to prepare their own meals. On the other hand, vegan restaurants and buddhist-friendly establishments are all over the city if dining out is what one fancies.
My research and now experience in plant-based diets has impacted me in a positive way. I feel strong and healthy, keeping my immune system functioning well. I also experienced having more energy and notice that my muscles are better repaired and maintained.
I never thought I'd go vegan. I'm Filipino. I've been a vegan now for a year now and I'm so happy I made a decision that has impacted my life in such a positive way.
Is being a vegan for everyone? Of course not. What matters is looking to improve our quality of life in ways that are positive and empowering. My day is all about helping people get closer to their fitness goals. To do that, I must take care of my own health first. We can all make small changes in our lives that could lead to experiences that help us be better versions of ourselves. My change was with my food. What's yours?
